How do I arrange an appointment?
Please call on the number provided at the bottom of the page. You may prefer to email and leave a brief message if we are not immediately available. We will return your call or reply to your email as soon as possible.
Do I need to go through my GP?
No you do not need to be referred by your GP, you can contact us directly.
Can you prescribe medication?
Psychologists and Counsellors cannot legally prescribe medication. If at an assessment medication needs to be considered, you will be advised to see your GP. With your agreement and only with your agreement we would be happy to write to your Doctor.
How long will therapy take?
Whilst this is an impossible question to answer definitively as we are talking about a process, it is possible for us to organize our work. If you decide to enter therapy it is usual to meet weekly for fifty minutes. The frequency of meetings is however open to discussion and can vary depending on the individual and their presenting issues. If you decide to enter therapy I have found it useful to work in sets of six sessions, this provides us with regularly scheduled times at which our progress can be reviewed. The duration of our work could be short term (six sessions), medium term (a number of months) or long term (a year or more). This again will depend on the individual and presenting issues.
Who decides when therapy should end?
This is usually a collaborative process by which you and I will agree that our work has reached its conclusion. However if at any stage and for whatever reason you decide to end our work, you are of course free to do so. In such circumstances, and if you feel you require on-going therapeutic support, I would be happy to provide information about alternative services that might better meet your requirements.
How much does it cost?
Fees will be discussed before the first session.
What happens if I have to cancel an appointment?
If an appointment is cancelled twenty four hours in advance, no fee will be charged. Missed appointments or those cancelled outside this twenty four hour period will be invoiced at the full amount.

Fees can be paid in cash or by cheque, electronic transfer or online services.
